How I would approach your project?
Initial scoping meeting
Always free. By telephone (or on site in the Devon and Cornwall area). We will agree a way of working that suits your needs and pocket and we can then proceed to a brief.
Brief
For a single piece of work, this would be part of the scoping meeting. For an ongoing contract, each distinct piece of work – a single item or a series – will be discussed and a short brief produced. We can then agree what it is we are intending to do.
Interviews and research
I often find that my clients know what they want to say and can tell me about it, even if they can’t write it. So we begin by talking about the article and I interview you and any other relevant people. I can then add research to that information and begin to sketch out the article.
Analysis
The process of mapping the information so that the structure of the message can develop. I use Mind Maps to do this and find that clients understand the approach and take to them quickly.
Writing
I write through a series of drafts, some of which I will share with the client and some not. The purpose of the first draft you see is not to have the perfect article but to have something to talk around and from which to develop the final piece.
Delivery
Delivery will be as per brief. for most articles and features, this will be a Word file without any formatting. For blogs and online resources, there may also be an uploading and (simple) HTML work as well.
Production (optional)
Producing a final designed piece – such as a PDF for printing or download – will involve a designer and possibly a printer. I can take on managment of that process if you require and find suitable resources to complete the job to your requirements.
